Top management must ensure that adequate resources are allocated for a planned AI strategy, AI practices are promoted, and an AI policy is formulated.

• Establishing a formal AI Policy with ethics, data privacy, and transparency commitments.
• Assigning Roles and Responsibilities to ensure accountability

Risk and Opportunity Management

Organizations should pinpoint what its AI risks might be, looking for bias or potential data breaches or misuse, and test ways to enhance AI performance. The organization does this by using strategies that will reduce threats and maximize benefits.

• Identify and assess potential threats of bias, data breaches, and misuse.
• Sets a Clear Objective aligned with business and ethical priorities.
• Compliance with Legal and Regulatory Requirements 

Performance Evaluation

Monitoring and measuring must be implemented together with internal audits, in regular intervals, to ensure that the AI systems fulfill all necessary regulations for ISO 42001. 

• Track AI performance, accuracy, and compliance metrics.

Corrective and Preventive Actions

Organizations must be quick to correct the root cause when problems occur and ensure they never happen again. Continuous improvement should be part of the AI governance culture.

Documentation and Record Keeping

These include documenting policies, process flows, recognizing and evaluating threats, as well as auditing logs. This documentation is necessary for both audit compliance and accountability.

To achieve  ISO 42001 certification, organizations need:
